Have Drivers?

Have drivers? Then you need to have a fleet safety program.

According to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), motor vehicle crashes are the number one cause of work-related injuries. Every 12 minutes someone dies in a motor vehicle crash, every 10 seconds an injury occurs, and every 5 seconds a crash occurs.

These incidents occur during the workday while conducting business in a company car. Employers bear the cost for many of these incidents with increased operating expenses. These costs include workers’ compensation, auto, and employer liability insurances. Motor vehicle crashes cost employers $60 billion annually in medical care, legal expenses, property damage, and lost productivity.

Whether you manage a fleet of vehicles, oversee a mobile sales force, or simply have an employee run company errands, implementing a fleet safety program in the workplace is a must. You can greatly reduce the risks faced by your employees and their families while protecting your company’s bottom line.

This interactive workshop will give you the tools to establish a fleet safety program necessary for all companies that have fleet vehicles.

Implementing Fleet Safety Into Your Injury & Illness Prevention Program

As an employer with fleet vehicles, it is your responsibility to have a fleet safety program. Cal/OSHA will discuss fleet safety and how to incorporate this subject into your company’s Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP). Topics to be discussed include:

  • Employee safety
  • Education
  • Awareness
  • Safe operation of vehicles
